Founded by Grace Mortlock and David Neustein in 2013, otherothers is a Sydney-based design organization that undertakes research, communication, competitions, curation, events, exhibitions, and installations. Exhibited at the inaugural Chicago Architecture Biennial, otherothers’ project Offset House has been widely published, with articles in the ArchDaily, Australian Financial Review, Wall Street Journal, CityLab, and Architectural Record. Runner-up and Highly Commended for the National Gallery of Victoria’s 2016 Architecture Commission, otherothers is currently curating and designing Occupied, an exhibition of architectural propositions for the near future, at Melbourne’s RMIT Design Hub Gallery.
Grace Mortlock is an architect and curator. Her work explores strategies of spectacle and spatial transformation. She teaches in the Master of Architecture program at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS). Prior to founding otherothers, Mortlock worked with Dunn & Hillam Architects on the renovation and masterplanning of Sydney’s Artspace gallery. A designer and writer, David Neustein is co-director of Other Architects, Associate of UTS’ School of Architecture and The Monthly’s resident architectural critic. He is a former recipient of the Adrian Ashton award for Architectural Journalism and the UTS Open Agenda prize.Website
